Sensor with a 3-pin Dupont plug connector. Operates at 5 volts. The detection sensitivity is adjustable through the cover with a small screwdriver. The sensor brick measures 45x22.5x15 mm and is provided with several mounting grooves serving the fischertechnik system.
Through the small diffuser the (red) LED light of the sensor board is visible. This lights up upon detection, the output then becomes active (~3.5 to 4 volts for direct connection to microcontrollers etc.). This output voltage is too low to serve directly as an input signal for fischertechnik's classic electronics modules (9 volts). The signal must then first be “preprocessed” a so-called Grundbaustein for switching. (Details can be found here)
Note that the order of the pins in the connector on the sensor side of the cable will have to be changed manually.
This sensor has the signal output on the first pin and may be damaged if connected incorrectly!
Follow the connection and wiring instructions to the right. On the connector, the leftmost pin is the signal output. The + and - of the power supply should be connected as shown.
Standard servo cables usually have the + pin in the middle. Contact pins of a standard servo cable, by slightly lifting the small plastic tab in the connector that holds the pin, can be easily removed from the plastic connector part after which you can reverse the wires to make a correct connection lead.
